Enterprise Reporting Analytics adds value to the report generation and data exploration of the financial data warehouse in Enterprise Reporting by making all underlying SQL data available in OLAP cubes, providing the user a highly interactive interface to analyze and explore data combined with the advantage of high data access performance. Outstanding Performance - Response time within seconds due to OLAP technology (MOLAP storage, pre-calculation of aggregates and cache optimization on server and client side) for pre-defined reports and interactive ad-hoc reporting
- Report generation and data analysis with no negative performance impact on source system. Moreover: indirect performance improvement for source system, as most of existin reporting and data analysis in source system is now being done in Enterprise Reporting Analytics
- Best access performance through pre-calculated intra-group eliminations, reporting currencies (pre-defined global currencies and unit related local currency)and the pre-calculation of amounts supporting rate type overruling
- Best data mart load performance through best practice data model, incremental refresh of periods affected, and usage of SQL file groups (data, index, intra-group elimination)
- No explicit pre-aggregation required in source system for dimension members with high transaction volume (.i.e.; sales accounts)
- No explicit pre-calculation of derived amounts required (year-to-date to month/day)
Empowered User - Interactive, user-centric predefined and ad-hoc reporting/data analysis without any programming skills required (filtering, drill-down, expand on all dimensions)
- Support of multiple user front ends depending on data usage and user preferences (true multi-dimensional OLAP client incl. web client, Excel add-in, and full Microsoft office integration)
- Enhanced visualization and analysis tools (business charts, dashboard, decomposition tree, ABC analysis, etc.)
- Support of dimension/cell context related actions (i.e.; show customer record in html-page or other application, automated generation of e-mail to unit/product manager or controller)
Enriched Information - Unified, consistent sights/perceptions of data structures and contents
- Support of alternate dimension hierarchies within same report
- Enhanced dimension hierarchies and member properties through integration of information from additional sources as dimension member attributes
- Support of financial and non-financial numbers
- Ability to see any report in any currency (incl. rate type overruling)
Enhanced Functionality - Fully supported intra-group elimination for units
- Fully supported proportional aggregation along all hierarchical dimensions inclusive support of special aggregation rules as defined for unit hierarchies (i.e., ownership/minority handling)
- Automated creation of derived amounts from year-to-date to month and day.
- User front end enhancements: MyUnits supports the user related selection for preferred units across multiple reports, display of operational status and news, and maintenance function for the administration of user-mapping (SQL <> NT accounts)
- Support of predefined selectors for ‘local unit currency’ and ‘last month’
- Independent support of different source collation (language character set)
24 hour Availability - Interrupt-free refresh of data (dimensions, transactions, exchange rates and user access rights)
- Fully consistent 1to1 extract of financial data warehouse facts and dimensions. Dimension hierarchies and the sort order of members within one hierarchy level are identical with the definition in the source system (financial data warehouse).
- Access to up-to-date (near real-time) information (incl. load date meta data) by incremental refresh of periods affected within minutes.
Data Access Context Security - Automatic support of user and user group related data access restriction as defined in the financial data warehouse for units and accounts (incl. all alternate hierarchies)
- User mapping table allows assigning SQL user accounts (financial data warehouse) to NT user accounts (as automatically recognized by the OLAP engine of ER AnalytiX).
Existing M:N relations between SQL- and NT-accounts are fully supported. Minimal Cost of Operation - All objects (tables/views) in data mart are recreated with each load automatically, depending on data mart configuration tables.
